Kids Club New School

Hello everyone!
It was another great day here in Guatemala. We went to another school where Jonathan and I (Jake) taught a lesson to the children. I taught about the Good Samaritan and Jonathan taught the Parable of the Talents. It was so encouraging to me to see how the Lord is working even in these small villages. I am again amazed at the joy and happiness that the villagers show towards us. It is so fun to work along side them.
A little update on the cistern. We are still slowly building up the walls with concrete and cinderblocks. It is getting pretty tall, we have started to need scaffolding to reach the top.
Thankfully, no one has gotten sick yet... but please continue to pray for health for us. Thank you all so much for your prayers for the Gospel to be well received and the work to go well. One last thing that has been on my heart this week. Please pray for our bus driver Pablo. He has done so much for us and I don’t think that he is a Christian. Pray that we can cross the language barrier and share the Gospel with him.

We did some hard work today. Everyone said that the kid’s club was a major success, but Emma and I stayed at the Church to help Mike Douglas and the workers with the cistern. They didn’t need quite so many people today with the kids especially because the school was smaller.
Nevertheless, everyone did a ton of work today. We placed and mortared the upper layer of cinderblocks and then pour another huge batch of concrete.
The team is great and everyone has been very friendly. Everyone works hard and is willing to jump into any situation even if it’s unfamiliar. The team has also been spending time making friends and getting closer to the Guatemalans that we interact with every day. Carlos, JR., and our bus driver Pablo. As well as the kids, workers in the village and even the workers that care for our Hotel.
It has been a blessing to share with everyone. I gave a lesson yesterday and it was an honor to share God’s word as well as a ton of fun. We have had a ton of opportunities to interact with so many people, some as unexpected as on the airplanes. We are all a little tired and battered but doing great. Thank you so much for all of your prayers and support. We can’t do this without all of you.

Hello everyone, Today we were able to visit a school and share the good news with the children and teachers of the school. Along with Captain, I was fortunate enough to teach a lesson and talk about the parable of the Prodigal Son. I shared that we are fortunate enough to have a God who will forgive and welcome us back with open arms if we repent and accept the forgiveness Jesus gave us on the cross. After the school, we went up to the church to work on the cistern and, because of the large number of people working, I went and sat down next to Chris and had the opportunity to talk to her. One of the conversations we had was about the immediacy of results we expect and receive in the United States. I was discouraged after my lesson because I wondered how I would see the results of it. Chris shared that we may not always see the fruits of our labor immediately, but to always remember we don’t always see how God is working immediately, but never doubt that He is working. Final Thoughts

Our team is nearing the end of the trip. It has been a very fruitful week and God has worked tremendously in our team and in the villagers lives. I feel satisfied that we got a lot of work done on the cistern and that a lot of people heard the Gospel. Today our team went zip lining and drove to Guatemala City to spend the night before we head back home. On the car ride today to Guatemala City I was reminded how much God has provided for me and how he has given me this great opportunity to show God’s love to his children. This trip has been a life changing experience and I praise the Lord for his hand in it all. -Alistair Gurley Wow! It is crazy to believe that this week is already over! Farewell to the village

Hello there everyone! This is Cuinn, and I’m going to be taking over the blog today. Today was our last day at the village, and we got a lot of work done on the cistern. We spent a lot of time mixing and pouring concrete, and making trips down to the river to collect water for the project. We worked hard on this cistern all week long, and though we didn’t get to see it completed, working with the locals and seeing the hard work and sacrifices that they make every day in order to bring clean water to the village was truly inspiring. While working on this cistern over the course of the week, I learned to have a good attitude about everything I do. Whether I was caked in concrete after pouring or standing shin high in a polluted river to collect water, having the right attitude made every task a good time.
