Arrived Safely on Travel Day

Bienvenidos from Guatemala! It’s been a great couple of travel days and I’ve had the chance to chat with some of my teammates that I don’t know as well! I’m asking a lot of questions and learning a lot about them. I’m excited to see what the Lord has in store for our work in the village. There were some unexpected roaches and spiders, but it’s an opportunity to put on our flexible pants and trust God. We went to a delicious breakfast this morning and had a long drive to Huehuetenango. We had the chance to play games and start reading our book for the week, “Do Hard Things.” It talks about the history of the word teenager, and how others’ expectations change our performance. So far, I like it and I’m excited to keep reading. Tomorrow, we are going to the village and we will begin our kids club and start our work! Thank you for you prayers and please continue to pray for our team, our positive attitudes, that we would be used to make the gospel clear, and that the Lord would use this trip to make a positive change in our lives. See you soon!
Love, Emily Graumann
PS: To Mom - I have marshmallows so I am great!

Greetings! I’m really excited for this Guatemala trip. I think we’ll learn a lot about how to get motivated to serve with a positive attitude. We started reading “Do Hard Things”, and I really like the message. The book talks about how we are held back from challenging ourselves by nothing but a string. We can easily break ourselves free, but we don’t want to just because the world has low expectations of us. For example, we don’t want to serve the Lord because the world expects us to be attached to our phones and/or social media, so there is no reason not to. I know I’ll learn so much on this trip, and I want to apply everything I learn to my everyday life once I get back home. The trip has been great so far (I didn’t get bitten by any bugs yet!), keep praying!
